Last of a Blood Bowl commission

Finished these random Blood Bowl miniatures for a WWII themed Orc team as the last of a commission work. Hopefully they will wreck havoc in MAFOC soon. An halfling chef, a goblin chef, two extra apothecaries, Ripper and a goblin.

Neo Soviets for Gruntz

Starting up a new faction for 15mm, Neo Soviets/Red Block with hover tanks. The tanks are from Old Crow and the infantry are mainly from AlternativeArmies old range with a few additions from Khurasan. Im really looking forward to get some paint on these babies, the casts from Old Crow are flawless. Much better than resin tanks Ive bought from other manufacturers. Anyway they have been washed, magnetized and based. So let the fun part begin...

Back on track

Life happened, what else can you say...

Here are the first attempts at some elevated terrain, early WIPs at this stage but you can imagine how they will look. A windmill and two drilling rigs on the way.

And some barricades/rubble Ive thrown together for the shanty town.

Gruntz

Im sure some or most of you might be familiar with the Gruntz rules, or at least heard of them. 15mm SciFi skirmish rules for about 30-40 models a side. Just had our first battle and enjoyed it a lot. As with all new systems it took a while, about 7 hours including beer, pizza and some non gaming related talk as well. Im sure we will get our speed up for the next few battles, estimated playtime in the rules are about 2 hours.

Great fun to try out the new terrain as well, always a pleasure when you get to play with your newly made projects. Didn't have much of a senario for this, just tried the "kill the other guys" senario between my Khurasan Interstellar Foreign Legion (IFL) versus a friends army with a mix of Critical Mass Games and Ground Zero Games miniatues.

The battle was a tie 107pts to 108pts and great fun. Really enjoy how open the Gruntz rules are, Im sure we will spend a lot of time using them and pushing to soldiers around.

Welcome to the jungle!

So, every table need some vegetation, be it just a few trees or a whole table coved by dense jungle.  I wanted to create some colorful terrain pieces for the shanty town, so that I cold represent an of world settlement as well as a more near future sci fi like District 9.

Best way to add some color to the terrain is plast plants, got two flowers from the local "cheap junk store" for about €1. And a branch of some kind of plastic bush from Hornbach costing about €5.

Take each layer from the flower and glue it to a small metal disc. Once dry cut of the end, and apply preferred basing materials to the disc.

About the same process with the rest of the vegetation.

Mix it up on the table and you have a nice piece out colorful jungle terrain to explore.

Found a bit tube that just begged to be used for terrain, so here's two water silos for the shanty town inhabitants.

Space station

Never painted MDF terrain before, so was a bit unsure on how to proceed. But my Googlefu skills pointed me in the right direction I hope. Anyway, I got rather pleased with the end result at least. Started of by giving the terrain a base coat of watered down PVA to stop the MDF from soaking up too much paint. Two coats of blue, varnish and done!

The fact that I spent my youth playing Warhammer 40.000 2nd Ed might have something to do with the choice of color here. Blue seemed like the most logical color for an old space port.
